Michelle McKeehan

Born & raised in Washington, D.C., I moved to New York City as a teenager and studied international economics and politics at New York University. I graduated with an honors degree in International Relations, and after a stint in Buenos Aires, Argentina, worked in financial operations at an international consulting firm in New York City.

After more than a decade in New York, I left to obtain a Master’s degree in accounting with a specialization in individual taxation from Texas A&M University. I moved to Basel, Switzerland and joined the US tax team of a Big Four accounting firm, where I prepared US tax returns for Americans living abroad (especially in Switzerland, Germany, France, and Austria). I accrued extensive knowledge and experience on expat tax issues, and became an IRS Enrolled Agent.

In 2021, I left Switzerland and the Big Four to start my own firm helping U.S. American expats with their taxes. My client base expanded beyond Europe to South America, Asia and Africa. I live in the Serra da Estrela mountains in central Portugal with my husband and many animals.
